Enable ports on PC for Dimension10

This page will take you through the way of enabling ports on your computer for running Dimension10.

How to enable ports on your computer.

1.  Search and locate the settings for firewall and network protection. 

To open a port (or multiple ports) in your Windows firewall, you should first open your control panel and go to your windows Firewall settings tab (Brannmur og nettverksbeskyttelse) inside your security tab (Windows sikkerhet).

From here you should chose the advanced settings (avanserte innstillinger).

2. Adding a new rule/port

You will see the firewall window shows a list of rules in the left side. From the list, select Inbound Rules (Innkommende regler), from here you can add a new rule.

3. Protocol and ports

When you have chosen "port" and pushed next you will be able to choose between TCP or UDP.

is a connection-oriented protocol which establishes a connection between a sender and receiver before data can be sent.
UDP is a connection-less protocol, which does not establish a connection before sending data.

Requirements for running Dimension10 - Ports enabled:

These specific ports should be enabled to smoothly run Dimension10.
Add each port as illustrated in "2. Adding a new rule/port"

TCP 8000 (Update Service)
TCP 5700-5702 (Multi User Server)
UDP 3000-4000 (Multi User Server)
