The origin of a model is the zero point (0x, 0y, 0z) of the models coordinate system, you can also think of it as an anchor point. In our software this is mostly used as the reference point to where different models will snap together when combining them. It is important to make sure the origins of different models line up with each other relatively if you want to combine them.

Here you can see two demonstrations where the origins are illustrated by the red and green L shape. We have three models here being combined in each of the two demonstrations. The first has correct relative origins, but the second has incorrect origin positions and even incorrect rotation on one model. You can easily see how the second one does not combine well because of the origin mismatch.
